GDES team at ITER receives the recognition of APAVE

Many actions are implemented at ITER, the largest fusion project in the world, to encourage the active commitment of all the workers and collaborators at its facilities. Safety is a priority at ITER, and for this reason APAVE, the company tasked with coordinating health and safety on the ITER project, is constantly implementing improvement plans and monitoring all safety-related actions developed at the facilities.

APAVE’s team of professionals have proposed a new procedure for the entire ITER facility following an internal proposal by our colleagues at GDES Revanti aimed at the logistics services with which they work.

In November 2021, GDES Revanti drew up an information document for off-site workers who may need to access the facility to deliver material.

The document, designed as a contract for information purposes, provides an illustrated description of the basic safety aspects that must be known by anyone who accesses the facilities, such as delivery operators, without the need to undergo APAVE’s “initial safety training”. Information on signage and notices at ITER, mandatory PPE when accessing the construction platform, cleaning and maintenance, no smoking outside the established areas or speed limits stipulated by ITER within its facilities.

This document also records the conformity and signature of all those who perform logistical services for GDES at the ITER facilities. It is a simple solution, easy to implement, but with high added value that has been praised by APAVE and has become the basis for a new procedure that will be implemented throughout the facility as an effective improvement tool.
