GDES France enters into the French nuclear decommissioning market

  • GDES becomes the first Spanish company to obtain CAEAR certification to work for the French CEA

CAEAR (Commission d’Acceptation des Entreprises en Assainissement Radioactif) is the commission for which the French organism CEA allows the companies to carry out work in decommissioning and associated activities such as waste management, radiological protection services and engineering in France. The award of this authorization is an enormous boost for the Spanish owned Group GD Energy Services (GDES) in the generation of new business in the main European nuclear market.

The items analysed for this authorization are the following:

  • The technical competence of GDES in the field of nuclear decommissioning and radiological protection.
  • Organization and Quality management systems.
  • Organizational capacity in in relation to radiological protection, including training and personal dosimetry management.
  • Radiological protection and security optimization programmes.

GDES’ commercial activity in France started in 2007 and was consolidated as one of the main international axis of the Group in 2016 with the constitution of the nuclear-industrial division GDES Erba through the strategic alliance with the Erba’s French company, specialist in industrial paint and anti-corrosion coatings.

GDES has been developing its business in France for several years. Nowadays, GDES France is focused in surface treatment, decommissioning, chemical cleaning and other technological projects for nuclear industry.

GD Energy Services (GDES) is today the only Spanish company with this authorization and the second international one to obtain it. An exceptional milestone that allows GDES to open a new market in France dedicated to decommissioning, radiological protection, waste management and engineering.
