GDES strengthens its technology strategy by acquiring a stake in the digital solutions company xabet
GDES’ strategy of commitment to innovation and high value-added services has taken a step forward with its acquisition of shares in the Basque company xabet. It will work closely with the current team led by its two founding partners, who continue at the helm. In this way, the Valencia-based group GDES will bolster its presence in the area of artificial intelligence and data analytics through its involvement in a technology-based company that specialises in digital solutions for decision-making and the optimisation of business resources.
This deal, which strengthens GDES’ business plan, will enable the group to expand its business portfolio by adding a complementary service to its operations in the energy sector. GDES also seeks to diversify the sectors in which it operates and to continue to develop innovative services designed to increase efficiency, optimise performance, and reduce costs for its customers. To this end, GDES is focusing on digitalisation, intelligent data processing and the transformation of data into returns.
xabet performs advanced data processing to forecast the future of companies, both internally in production lines and externally by enabling the shift towards servitisation. The Basque company accompanies its customers in the transformation process by measuring digital maturity and designing realistic transformation plans. They are experts in the field of Industry 4.0, developing tailor-made digital strategies and assets for their customers, with guaranteed returns on their investment in less than 12 months.
The technology company designs customised solutions for the industrial, automotive, energy, food, and health sectors, working with clients such as Ferrero (ICFC), Grupo Uvesco, GKN Automotive, Repsol, Arcelor Mittal, Siemens Gamesa, Fagor Ederlan and Angulas Aguinaga.
It works with a proprietary system, with advanced data analysis engines and artificial intelligence, that creates user-friendly rules and alarms, correlates data and designs modules capable of predicting aspects related to quality, production, maintenance, demand, consumption, losses, etc. All this without the need for third party licences and external support.
For GDES, the experience of xabet in Industry 4.0 and in the application of technology to the energy sector were the main factors behind this business venture, which will generate shared opportunities in current projects such as electric mobility or smart monitoring of assets in the energy industry.
The CEO of GDES, Héctor Dominguis, has highlighted the interest of the company in this partnership: “This alliance will enable us to move forward on two key fronts for the group. One is our move into Industry 4.0 as a driving force, where we aim to lead the way in technology applied to forecasting and analytics, which we believe represents the immediate future. The other is the diversification of sectors and services thanks to an alliance with a company as promising as xabet, with versatile solutions that may be adapted to various industries. The company’s experience in digital transformation and long-standing conviction in its potential gives us great confidence in the potential of this union”.
Alberto Conde Mellado, co-founder and CEO of xabet, stated that it is “a fantastic opportunity to have a partner who embraces our principles and has the same vision for the future: green and digital. GDES paves the way for us to diversify technological applications and sectors. Furthermore, they are another step in our relationship with the region of Valencia, where we already have significant clients and are in the process of setting up a local office. This will enable us to work more closely with the companies that we accompany in their transformation processes and in improving the competitiveness of their businesses”.
The xabet team is led by the founding partners Alberto Conde Mellado and Xabier Etxeberria Muguruza. They operate from their headquarters in Donostia alongside a multidisciplinary team that have a combined experience of more than 50 years in industry and production, and more than 20 years of experience working with data and predictive tools.
Etxeberria has international experience in the manufacturing and energy industries and has served as CEO of Siemens-Gamesa and Director of Operations at GKN Driveline. In recent years, Conde has been named European Digital Influencer, entrepreneur of the year in the Basque Country and participates as an advisor in digital matters for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), with extensive international experience in areas related to the mobility industry, energy and the health sector.
