A squad from Lainsa SCI has been awarded the Mapfre Global Risk prize for fire prevention
The professional firefighting service that Lainsa SCI has implemented in the industrial installations of Airbus in Getafe (Madrid) has won first prize in the XXII Fire Prevention Competition organised by Mapfre Global Risk. The Lainsa SCI squad was outstanding in the professional firefighters mode and in the fire extinguishing event in a structure on two levels (the upper with an LPG leak and the lower with a flammable liquid spill), with the use of water hoses.
The Lainsa SCI squad, which has been operating since early 2010, entered for the first time the competition that Mapfre Global Risk has organised each year since 1977, with the aim of promoting the work of firefighting professionals. In this competition the professional firefighting services operating at Airbus in Getafe took on teams that have provided services for the main companies operating in risk sectors in Spain, and won first prize.
For example, this year firefighters from companies with considerable professional experience in fire prevention and firefighting have again entered the competition, such as CLH, Endesa, Repsol, etc.
The competition consisted of a series of events in two categories (“Professional” and “Non Professional”) for putting out fires with various types of hydrocarbons and gases and using various types of fire extinguishers. The marks individually awarded took into account the following criteria: total extinguishing, time taken to extinguish, and the amount of extinguishing agent used.
The Lainsa SCI squad won the first prize in the professional firefighter category for the fire extinguishing event in a structure on two levels (the upper with an LPG leak and the lower with a flammable liquid spill), with the use of water hoses.
