EDF awards DPMB technology contract to GDES

EDF DIPDE has awarded GDES the contract for the design, manufacture and operation of 2 Provisional Mobile Boration Systems (DPMB). The project has an estimated duration of 7 years, including 5 years of operation and maintenance of the equipment with 10 interventions in different nuclear power plants, both during outages and when the reactor is in operation, at Nogent NPP, Paluel NPP and Saint Alban NPP.

For this project, GDES has partnered with the French company CSTI, a leader in the manufacture and installation of specialist machinery for the French nuclear sector. GDES is jointly participating in the project as part of a joint venture (GME).

With the introduction of new fuels such as MOX (mixed uranium and plutonium oxide) and URE (enriched uranium from reprocessing), the DPMB system makes it easier to achieve the required level of boron concentration in the standby liquid control system (Système de Purification Traitement et Refroidissement des piscines de désactivation du combustible, PTR). EDF will therefore once again be adopting our technological solutions in its facilities.

After the success of the UMB project (Mobile Boration Units), which positioned GDES in France as a leading player in high value-added technology, the DPMB project further bolsters this position, consolidating our presence in the French nuclear market. On this occasion, GDES will also be in charge of the operation, thus expanding our portfolio of services for EDF across its nuclear facilities.

This is a strategic project for the Group as it consolidates our position in France as a technology provider for EDF that not only provides decontamination and surface treatment services, but also develops, builds and operates critical equipment for the operation of nuclear power plants and nuclear safety.
