GDES invited by BIMtour to speak on BIM technology for industry
The prestigious BIMtour sessions were created as a series of meetings between experts and businesses to discuss the implementation of BIM methodology in the construction sector and its impact on each of its agents, moving towards what is known as Construction 4.0.
BIM technology and methodology is the latest development in traditional design systems as it incorporates geometric (3D), time (4D), cost (5D), environmental (6D) and maintenance (7D) information. Use of BIM goes beyond the design and planning phases to encompass the execution of the project and span the entire life cycle of the building: it enables the building or infrastructure to be managed throughout its entire lifetime, reducing maintenance and operating costs. This technology is widely used in the construction sector and its introduction to the nuclear sector by GDES has aroused the interest of BIM specialists in Spain.
The prestigious BIMtour invited as a speaker Ignacio Sabater, a BIM expert technician from the Thermal Protection Service Area of GDES, at its latest online event #BIM4Industry. Together with the laser scanning specialist company Acero Estudio, a demonstration was given on how BIM technology can be successfully applied in the nuclear industry through the analysis of the projects and developments that GDES is implementing in Spanish nuclear power plants. An innovative methodology for this sector, which, adapted to design engineering and installation of thermal protection against fire, reduces risks, time, and implementation costs, in addition to increasing the quality and precision of the work in general for the client and their facilities.
