GDES Wind takes part in AEE’s Wind Farm Operational Analysis Conference

The Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE) has held a new edition of the Wind Farm Operational Analysis Conference, the leading technical forum in Spain for the wind energy industry. The event brought together more than 200 experts to present and discuss the latest technological advances and the challenges facing the sector, with a special focus on wind farm operability. Among the topics addressed were resource modernization, life extension of wind farms, repowering, and the improvement of components and materials.
Representing GDES Wind, Technical Director Fernando Tajuelo participated as a speaker, accompanied by a delegation from our company’s senior management: Héctor Dominguis, Chairman and CEO of GDES; Sandra Sáez, General Manager; and Nelia Martínez, Corporate Director of Bid Coordination.
Session 4: Subsystem Monitoring – Generators, Mechanical Transmission and Blades
Fernando Tajuelo took part as a speaker in Session 4, focused on subsystem monitoring. In his presentation, he addressed the latest trends and technologies applied to wind blade inspection, emphasizing the importance of early damage detection as a key factor to ensure availability, safety, and profitability of wind turbines.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity to share GDES Wind’s accumulated experience and key insights to advance in the efficiency and operability of wind farms. The round table on subsystem monitoring highlighted how technologies such as artificial intelligence, drones, robots, advanced sensing systems, and predictive models are transforming maintenance practices. Continuous monitoring was underlined as essential to anticipate issues and extend the service life of critical components such as blades, bearings, and generators.
Digitalization and data analytics were consolidated as essential tools to optimize costs, improve equipment reliability, and ensure safety in wind farms.
