GDES Wind, specialists in maintenance and repair of wind turbine blades, is developing an exemplary project: recycling and reconditioning wind turbine blades to transform them into urban furniture to be enjoyed by the Galician town of As Pontes. This initiative was announced by the mayor of the municipality, Valentín González Formoso, during his visit to the GDES Wind repair and manufacturing centre in Galicia, Spain.

In addition to urban furniture, the project includes the recovery and reuse of materials for the creation of artificial reefs in offshore wind farms, as well as the incorporation of shredded waste from industry in construction materials such as concrete.
