Our colleagues from GDES attended this meeting between professionals and companies in the sector, where not only current issues in the nuclear field were discussed, but also high-level technical papers, presentations, and projects were showcased.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting brought together more than 700 professionals from the nuclear sector and hosted over 300 technical presentations, organized into areas such as engineering, R&amp;D&amp;I, nuclear safety, maintenance, and nuclear medicine, among others.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, sessions led by national and international experts were held to analyze the most innovative projects in the nuclear field. Among the highlighted topics were the defense of continued operation of the Spanish nuclear fleet\u2014with the Almaraz plant as a benchmark\u2014the socioeconomic aspects of nuclear energy, and its strategic role in the face of growing energy demand driven by data centers.<\/p>\n<p>A comparative and updated view on the extension of nuclear power plant lifespans was also presented, a well-established international practice that helps address the challenges of energy transition and ensures supply security.<\/p>\n<p>This year, GDES had a particularly active participation with a strong technical profile in the presentation program:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Roberta Gargiulo<\/strong>, Project Manager, presented <em>\u201cDecommissioning of Steam Generators at Latina NPP\u201d<\/em>, addressing the challenge of dismantling six steam generators at the Latina plant and the application of an innovative confinement and cutting methodology that ensures radiological safety, efficiency, and waste reduction.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Miriam Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>, Project Manager, presented <em>\u201cMobile Temporary Borating Device (MTBD)\u201d<\/em>, an innovative mobile solution to increase boron concentration in pools and primary circuits, especially in response to the introduction of MOX and URE fuels in French plants.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Joan Romeu<\/strong>, Project Technician, presented <em>\u201cMobile Device for Injection of Highly Borated Water\u201d<\/em>, a compact and transportable equipment that allows targeted injections in EPR reactors, ensuring isotopic control of boron and enhancing operational safety.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Rosell\u00f3<\/strong>, Technical Innovation Manager, participated in the presentation by Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Al\u00fatiz Ruis\u00e1nchez \u2013 ANAV \u2013 <em>\u201cAutomated Compensatory Fire Surveillance\u201d<\/em>, showcasing the automated system developed by GDES, based on multi-criteria sensors and computer vision, validated according to UNE and NFPA standards, which complements on-site surveillance by improving efficiency, safety, and reducing radiation exposure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Juli\u00e1n Mendoza<\/strong>, Director of Quality, Safety and CSR, presented <em>\u201cMethodology for Applying the Graded Approach to Nuclear Quality and Safety Requirements\u201d<\/em>, a proposal aligned with IAEA principles and ISO 19443, complementary to ISO 9001:2015, optimizing processes without compromising safety, with practical examples in document management, inspections, and supplier control.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Luc\u00eda G\u00f3mez<\/strong> presented <em>\u201cSolidarity in Action: The Nuclear Sector\u2019s Response to the Valencia DANA 2024\u201d<\/em>, awarded as the best presentation in the <strong>Communication and Training<\/strong> category for its technical quality and contribution to the sector. Meanwhile, <strong>Adoraci\u00f3n Arnaldos<\/strong> (Director of Innovation and Technology) participated in this edition\u2019s <strong>Young Session<\/strong>, aimed at connecting students and young professionals with companies in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>Both GDES\u2019s latest innovations and the most unique projects of our organization were featured this year at our exhibition stand. The stand showcased not only our international activity map and video examples of our technological developments, but also our commitment and collaboration with the platform <strong>\u201cYes to Almaraz, Yes to the Future\u201d<\/strong>, videos of our robotics for Operation and Maintenance, and sectoral diversification.<\/p>\n<p>At GDES, we are proud to take such an active role in events like this, which foster dialogue and unity within the sector, alongside other national and international companies and entities, while also facilitating both business development and commercial activity.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>52st Annual Meeting of the SNE<\/strong> already has an official venue: <strong>A Coru\u00f1a<\/strong>.
