The structure, designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, features a large metal roof with an elliptical floor plan and a main structure comprising 98 porticoes on both fa\u00e7ades. The works, with a completion period of ten months, will focus on the interior of the main structure and include the inspection and restoration of the intumescent coating system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">To this end, GDES will conduct a preliminary stage of inspection and verification of the state of the intumescent coating of this structure by means of rope access works and visual support from an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone). The inspection will cover 100% of the coated surface \u2013 as defined in the scope of the contract \u2013 including the 98 metal porticoes of the building and its longitudinal arches, with an estimated surface area of 26,500 m2. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The objective will be to verify the current state of the intumescent coating system and to identify any areas that present any type of degradation. After this first stage of inspection and analysis, GDES will undertake the restoration works, relevant repairs, surface preparation and application of a layer of protective coating of the fire protection system to the entire surface area included in the scope of this project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The works, which began at the end of March, will be the fourth major intervention for the Valencia-based company GDES at the unique complex of the City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia.
